Government Policy

18 April 2012

The coalition government's policy on the teaching of reading is clearly the use of phonics. Schools have been told that this must now be their primary method, and new trainee teachers must now be taught how to employ phonics in their literacy teaching. From this autumn emergency inspectors are to be deployed whenever there is a complaint from trainees that their phonics training is felt to be inadequate.

We totally agree that phonics is the best method for literacy teaching which is why we have developed our comprehensive literacy programmes - Dyslexikit and Access Literacy.
